3/21/12 Transform

Mallery Schaffer Ministries: Transform Fitness                                           20-March-2012

Be Strong "to exist in a state of strength"  Joshua 1:8 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Weekly Series: “Strength through the word of God”

  1. Our words we speak to one another
In Transform we encourage each other to do what?  Celebrate with one another when we lose a pound, inches or nourish our temples. Praying for one another we are speaking words and asking God to acknowledge and answer our prayer. Amen ---- The words we speak are very important in all situation not just at this class or at church.
  1. Meditate  “train your mind”
To strengthen your mind spiritually while exercising, I say to clients all the time when I notice they are ready to give up  “MIND OVER MATTER”  We do this together by listening to Christian music, I encourage you to take notes while I speak, I write in my bible when pastor John speaks, listening to sermons online and TV shows or movies you watch.. You can train your mind for example I use to say OMG and realized from Pastor Chris I was calling on the Lord every time I said this.  I now say “Oh My” and it did take me a while but, I trained my mind to stop saying it. I also trained my mind every time someone says it or if I slip and it just comes out, I will say either out-loud or in my mind I love you God
(3 times) LOL. ;) I know I’m a goof sometimes but, we got to have fun and If I am calling on the God I want him to know just how much he is loved! Amen.
Also, another example is how I use to eat - So unhealthy and now I trained my mind to eat more veggies and fruit (Vegan for 4 years)  and why do I do this? To strengthen my mind, because when you eat something bad “you are not as sluggish” Eat SMART “ think smart” Amen!
3 Obedience comes from the heart
All my heart is for Mallery Schaffer Ministries because it’s Gods will for my life! Fitness came first and he said you will have nothing without faith. My heart rate sky rockets every time someone comes up to me and says “your going to preach or I can see you on the pulpit” I just want to cry tears of joy & that didn’t come over night. I still have a long way to go!   It was by me giving God my heart and exercising my faith therefore it is getting stronger each day.
If you do these 3 things your way will be
  1. Prosperous "God will take care of all your needs"
  1. Physically, Mentally, Spiritually, Financially, Emotionally EVERYONE SAY THIS OUT LOAD “ GOD WILL TAKE CARE ALL OF MY NEEDS!”
  1. Succeed
What does success mean to you? Looked up the definition (replace another, accomplish, develop from inheritance, follow) For us this should not be success, it’s building strength in every area of your life through the Word of God. You can be strong “Muscular or Skinny” on the outside appearance and dead on the inside or you can be alive on the inside “spiritually” love God with all your heart and your over weight and diabetes is killing you. Treat your life like a gift because it was given to you from God. Amen!
Visuals for class, volunteers needed, please bring a small something that has to do with our series, this week is strength. Idea’s?
Josh 9:   Have I not commanded you? Be Strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord you God is with you wherever you go. “Do not fear, the Lord is with you where ever you go”
If you don't know if you have given our life to Christ, please pray the prayer below. It will be the best decision you have ever made in your life. Truly!

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

Thank you Lord for giving me another day to serve you. Thank you all for your continued love, support and prayers.

#2 Fitness Sermon

Hi Everyone,

Oh my so much has been going on, I am overflowing with joy writing this! :) I want to send a special thanks to everyone who helped me prepare this sermon. It truly helped me more than you will ever know. Love you all so much, your wisdom is priceless! I pray God will richly bess you.

Transform Fitness                                           16-March-2012

Love one another as I love you.

John  13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another."
John 15:12 " This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."

Love like Jesus

Do you go to a special place to run? LIke somewhere you feel safe, a place you feel a strong connection with God, or just love the atmosphere at this specific park- maybe little kids are running around or birds are chirping? If you don't like to run then maybe a place where you walk? Running for me is my peaceful alone time with God. I ask this because I have a special place where I honestly feel a strong connection with God. The picture below, I have danced in the grassy field, kneeled down and prayed, cried out to God and really love going to the cemetery. I know right WEIRD but, I love this place...

I went this evening and took these pictures, that is why it's taken me so long to post this blog. Wouldn't be the same without the visual.

Ok, shall I go into this absolute amazing story of how God is so faithful to us!

Thursday 3/15 the day before I was to do my first fitness sermon!  Prior to this I was going by a structured devotional book called "Learn how to follow Christ" and the preparation was smaller but, God placed it on my heart to start doing my own from scratch. Yikes. Ok God. Help!  Well, I prayed to our Lord and said "God show me what to share with my Transform group of ladies tomorrow" Friday 3/16. He surely answered my prayer.

I was running at my special place (Thursday afternoon)  and it was my 8 miler tempo run day so I scheduled the time to do this. Yay. I got up to my special place (cemetery) and I could feel the wind blowing on my face, sun was shining on my back and just something about seeing Jesus on the cross makes my heart BEAT fast (the steep hill coming up could race the heart a bit also) I am at about 2 miles and my legs hurt, I don't feel like running anymore but, In my head I always say "Mallery if you want to improve you need to push past this." I turned my Jesus MANIFEST music up and kept going. Now, I want you to picture this, I am at 3 miles and I could stop and do a short cool down on the way back but, something tells me just keep going, do about 4 miles here at the cemetery and cool down on the way back. I always structure my time for runs etc.
so I'm like man OK and I keep on running. . . It's like 3:64 I am like Lord I am stopping at 4 miles, praying and cooling down and BAM a man pulls up at the cemetery.

He gets out of the car and walks into the grassy field, same field I dance and praise in, same field I pray and cry out to the Lord in, same field at times I am so tired from running I kneel and can't get back up. LOL. Yes my special place... In my head I was thinking "there are two stones in this grassy field the grave he is visiting must be very old"
He then walks in front of Jesus on the cross and starts to pray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was shocked, didn't know what to do. I almost started to seriously cry! I then said Jesus what would you do? Listen up, I am not saying if your in a desert place, woods, alley or even if your in a public place to put yourself in harms way. I was out in the open, people were walking on the street and I felt lead to stop my music, STOP exercising/running and approach this man. (What's more important)  I first gave him and hand shake and said hello what's your name... He said "POLLY" I said I am Mallery then of course gave him a big HUG. This was his words "I feel a strong connection here, don't know what it is (maybe angels) but I truly love coming here." I almost fainted, I said wow me to. We talked for a bit,  I shared my testimony, he told me his. We prayed about some struggles he was facing (Health/Family) He then said I have something I want to give you... Before he pulls the magnet out he said this "I am catholic and I know you may think different of me because your a Cristian, I looked at him and said "have you given Jesus your life/heart?" He said yes, I said then YOU ARE MY BROTHER AND GOD WOULD NOT WANT TO SET US APART. I said I love you brother, God wants us to love one another.  He smiled and gave me this magnet and just look what it says, read it.  He then gives me four more. BLESS HIS HEART! I thanked him... Oh my, I would have never thought In years I would see someone at this cemetery!!!  Especially someone who does not know anyone buried at the cemetery and goes to pray, just like I do. Wow.

I then ran all the way home 2 more miles with the magnet out front so everyone could read. It said Eleventh "Commandment Love One Another As I Love You"

I know this was what I was suppose to speak about. How we should love like Jesus does in every situation of our lives. Through God I may have changed that mans life. Now would you have done the same or just kept running and focusing on your mileage goal?

Here are a few keys notes to jot down:
-Love is an actions word and caring for a persons physical being is a demonstration of love
-Love God, love others & love self
-Care for the body because it is the temple where God lives
-Jesus is our example of LOVE

We are to love as he loved we are his hands to reach out to others. His feet to go out and share to Gospel with the world, His eyes to see people with compassion.

If you have never given your life to Christ, here is the opportunity to tell him you are so ready to have a new amazing life that starts right now. Pray the prayer and trust that he has control over your eternal life!!!!  :)

Father, I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead and is alive.I want to give you my life from this day forward. I ask that you wash away my sins and give me a new life, renew my mind, body, soul and spirit. Come into my heart and stay forever, give me your will father. In the name of Jesus I pray this, Amen. I love you Lord! (If you prayed this today and have questions about what's next, please email me Inspiremefitness@gmail.com) It's important that you get connected with a bible believing church to grow in Gods word. I am here to serve you through the Lord. Amen.

Thank you all for your continued love, support and prayer. Please continue a prayer for the Lord to reveal the treasurer of Mallery Schaffer Ministries. Amen.

Mallery's 1st fitness sermon!!!

3/14/12 My past food & exercise addiction!!!

I was so happy to share my heart with you ladies, thank you!

I am now preparing each sermon from my heart, using the gifts God has given me and learning to be as organized as possible ;)  It's also helping me to take out extra time to study the bible and grow in the Lord.

Father in the name of Jesus I ask you to Renew our Mind, Body, Soul, Spirit,  for ministry growth and God to reveal the treasurer of Mallery Schaffer Ministries.

I want to thank lead pastor Ron Hoellein from United Methodist Church for his wisdom and suggestion to incorporate scripture on our temple "fitness" in my sermons.

It's actually an awesome point he made because the members of his church or any church can go and listen to an amazing sermon about the word of God and to grow in the Lord. I love Pastor John he's truly anointed and I go each week to see him preach. I go an extra day because it's not the same hearing the sermon online. Victory Family Church (my family)  is a blessing to me and I will be at that church forever....

If I was to speak at my church or United Methodist I would incorporate Fitness & Faith together.   Mallery Schaffer Ministries is based on Transforming lives by using fitness as a platform to share the gospel. Amen.

When I preach on Monday 1 p.m (lunch) Wednesday 6 p.m & Friday 6:30 a.m (after workout) this really helps me to overcome fears of speaking and prepares me for future opportunities to speak in front of larger groups or speaking events!

Past history with addictions to food and exercise: how it affected me & how God helped me over comes this!

- Growing up ate whatever, was addicted to wrong foods (was hard to break the old habits)

- love animals/vegan part of me
" People lived much longer lives in AD years, before they lusted for flesh meat and God gave them permission to eat it. Please be aware that lust results in over consumption, not normal consumption. Later when they began overeating meat and processed foods, life spans declined many years, and today 40-80 years old. Wow! "
- After my father passed away (loss hair, no appetite, really skinny 20 less, low iron)
- I emotionally I let food and exercise controlled me at one point on my life
- fears of gaining weight (family members were always worrying about this) made me feel the same if I gained a pound I would be so upset.
- we all have cravings and addictions
- I love Dark chocolate I can eat it all day long (I'm human)
- Trainer doesn't mean I wouldn't rather eat cookie than the greens! I do have them sometimes especially after a long run. (my point is to make this a life style change) Diets do not work!

I eat carbohydrates, proteins and fats to fuel and nourish my body. I consume a healthy diet of foods so that I have so much energy to function. I strive to receive the correct about of nutrients for my mind to work properly. When I run, I rely on a certain amount of sugar/food to fuel my body. These are all what? Physical?  What does our spirit need to perform the spiritual functions that God has for us?

- Write this down and repeat after me:
God you satisfy me more than the richest of foods

How powerful is this, when you eat do you ask God to nourish your body, ask him to sanctify you? Well, why not??  Look at the verse below on what he has done for us and we by pass the opportunity to thank him for the food he's given us?? Really--- 1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

This really stood out to me:  Jesus said when he was famished and so starving!!

John 4- 31:34
31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” (love this)
33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”
34 Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
- - - Yes, Jesus needed the same type of nourishment in traditional food just as we do today. But He knew that His more meaningful nourishment came from doing what He came to earth to do… to bear all of our sins… past, present and future… so that we might have everlasting life when we die and so that we might have a more abundant/full life while we are here, being filled with His love.

- My God given mission is to help you Tranform your life by sharing in each class the good news of who Jesus really is and how he wants us to renew our Body, mind, soul, spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:7 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

***  Going to conclude with this: My secretary of my ministry wrote this for me:  I want to share it with you, she believe God in me and has been a true blessing in my life.

My name is Mallery Schaffer.  I am a fitness instructor and personal trainer.   I also have a ministry with the mission of helping individuals to be healthier, physically fit and spiritual aware as well.  I conductor group class for women at simple to advanced levels of exercise, according to the needs and wishes of the participants.  Exercises are aimed at stretching and toning muscles. Classes also include suggestions for healthy eating and lifestyle alternatives.  An important part of the classes is the inclusion of spiritual "nourishment" in the form of inspiration and some meditation inter-twined with the exercises with the belief that "the body is the temple of the soul and that God wants us to take care of our "temples" with our own efforts and God's help. 1 corinthians 6:19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own (I added this) :)
Since these classes are non-profit , the cost is a free-will offering and the use of your facility for the classes.  If you are interested in offering these classes through your church or organization, please contact me at the following email Inspiremefitness@gmail.com I would also be happy to meet with your program or activities representative to answer any questions or provide more information, in person.
Wishing you good health and God's blessings-- Mallery

Please copy and paste the above and pass along by email to your church or organization. You can also print and give it to the pastor personally.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers, love and support. I am open to all suggestions and comments, I know I jumped subjects and got off target a bit this evening.  Please know this is going to happen, I am so far from perfect, LOL.  I just pray not as frequent in the future.  I trust this will improve as more opportunities and great Godly mentors come my way.

As I Promised, finally here is the recipe for the protein bars :) with pics! So sorry it took so long. Get creative with foods! Find a balance, I have to practice this every day along with patience :)

Yummy- All ingredients!

Ok, I made a huge batch but I would follow the recipe below--

Yum, just add a small amount

go bananas

I like raison better but Gojo are healthier for you!

Can't forget Vegan choco chips

Agave Organic (small amount) I did even smaller than on the recipe

Love PB2 it's amazing!

Flax

Chia seeds

Cinnamon

Vanilla Extract
Olive Oil

Mix all together

I was so proud after making theses No bake yummy healthy protein balls :)

No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars
Ingredients
1 Ripe Banana (mashed)
1.5 c Oats
1/2 c Shredded Coconut (I used sweetened)
1/2 c Raisins (or date chunks, cranberries, craisins, dried cherries/mangoes/apricots/etc. Any dried fruit will work)
1/2 c Chocolate Chips (or carob, butterscotch, white chocolate chips, etc.)
1/2 c Maple Syrup (or agave, yacon syrup)
1/2 c Peanut Butter (or any nut butter, i.e. almond, pecan, cashew, etc.)
The Following Ingredients are Optional but I used them all:
2 to 4 scoops of Protein Powder (I used 2 heaping scoops of Sun Warrior Brown Rice Raw Vegan Protein Powder in Vanilla flavor.  And if you don’t care about the protein aspect or don’t have on hand, just omit the Protein Powder all together)
2 Tbsp Flax Seeds
2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1.5 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Yields: Approximately 10 decent sized bars
Note: The above are rough measurements and you can use the kitchen sink mentality on this recipe: a dash of this, a dab of that, don’t have this but have tons of that, throw everything in but the kitchen sink strategy and they will “work”.  I promise.
Storage: I store mine in the freezer, individually wrapped, so I can grab and go as needed.  They soften up quickly at room temp, and will keep for a month or more in the freezer.
Also see my  Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Coconut Oil Protein Bars which is this recipe plus 1/4 c coconut oil
Optional Add-In’s, Extras, Tweaks, Variations:
  • Use Christmas Cookie Cutters and make Stars, Reindeer, Gingerbread men, etc.
  • Shape into logs, bars, biggerballs, squares, hearts
  • Decorate with Sprinkles!!!
  • Frosting or Icing (see my Raw Vegan Icing Recipe Here)
  • Roll finished product in: Cinnamon-Sugar, Brown or White Sugar, Carob, Coconut, Cocoa Nibs, Cocoa Powder, Powdered Sugar, Shredded Coconut
  • Dip in Maple Syrup or Agave
  • Add in Carob, Coconut, Cocoa Nibs into the “dough” mixture.
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp of Cocoa Powder or PB2 would be awesome!
  • Use raisins instead of dates, gogi berries instead of raisins, dried cranberries instead of dried cherries, etc.
  • Use or combine multiple types of dried fruit rather than solely using raisins: gogi berries, dates, cranberries, craisins, apricots
  • Dash of agave or coconut oil if mixture is too dry
  • Dehydrate for a more “cooked tasting” version.
  • Flatten or mold into larger cookie/bar shapes
  • Double the recipe to share with others.   I like to make dessert recipes that don’t make a ridiculous quantity so you’re not tempted to eat the whole thing in a sitting!  But also, smaller batches are nice because that way you get to try it, but then move onto something new & different.  Variety is the spice of life, I tell ya!

3/9/12 Transform

Y'all I want to share something with you, it's so very important, pay attention to what I am about to write and express to you- - -  I LOVE YOU! I so appreciate your patience, I know this should have been posted days ago.

Let me rewind back to Friday a.m, I remember pulling myself out of bed. I was so looking forward to praising God. I was also really happy to see all my dedicated ladies. I could not wait to give big hugs!

I arrived about 5:55 a.m and we started up the music and praised God for another day. The 1/2 hour working out always fly's by so quickly! It was such a small group so we started chatting about how amazing God truly is. Wow. We are so blessed.

The devotion was about the possessions we own and the possessions that own us. 1 Tim 6:7-8 "We brought nothing in the world, so we can take nothing out. But, if we have food and clothes, we will be satisfied with that."

--- We cannot carry anything out! ---

What are material things to you?

Your car, clothes, jewelry, shoes, makeup, bigger house and this list could go on and on! New trends come out every day.

How important is the stuff you own? Not as important as you might think. In the life of a committed Christian, material possessions should play a rather small role. In fact, when we become overly enamored with the things we own, we needlessly distance ourselves from the peace that God offers to those who place him at the center of their lives.

I did this with my car (pic below)
Now that debt owns me. I am a servant to it and can't wait for it to be paid off. I would ride around in a 1987 car now as long as it got me from A-B.. LOL!

Of course, we all need the basic necessities of life, but once we meet those needs for ourselves and for our families, the piling up of possessions creates more problems then it solves. Our real riches of course, are not the world. We are never really rich until we are RICH IN SPIRT!! AMEN!

Proverbs 28 "A faithful person will be richly blessed but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished"

Order your soul; reduce your wants; associate in Christian community; obey the laws; trust in providence! I love this book (Learning to Follow Christ)

Are you one of those girls who sometimes finds herself (I was this) wrapped up in the concerns of the material world? If so, it's time to reorder your priorities by turning your thoughts and your prayers to more important matters. And, it's time to begin storing up riches that will endure throughout eternity; the spiritual kind Amen!

I now think about every single $ I spend and how it is glorifying God. Where I buy clothing or what clothing I buy (like it to say scripture)  giving to my church family (tithing) giving to people, give to suffering animals or shelters, christian places I frequently eat out at, hair stylist, food I buy etc.

Do not let your possessions own you, be a MASTER of your possessions not a servant!

Every dollar you give to Mallery Schaffer Ministries is to make a difference eternally (forever) I am so thankful for your continued love, support and prayer. I love you never forget this.
